Celebrating GCSE success as our students receive 2026 results

Our students and staff celebrated today as Year 11 collected their GCSE results, marking the culmination of years of hard work, commitment and determination. The students have shown resilience and ambition throughout their studies and are now preparing to take their next steps in education, training or employment.

This year’s cohort achieved particularly highly in drama, dance and religious education. The whole school community has come together today to mark the students’ achievements, hard work and dedication, as they look ahead to the next stage of their education.

While all students have achieved well, some individual achievements include:

• Ruby who secured excellent top grades in health and social care, history, English language and English literature, business, history and science.

• Connor who achieved a raft of high grades, but excelled in engineering, business, geography, maths and science.

• Kylan who excelled in engineering, science, Spanish, business, English literature, geography and maths.

• Amelia who achieved top grades in IT, maths, science, computer science, art and geography.

Achievement and personal success are what we strive for at Lightcliffe, and it is a joy to see students leaving with some great outcomes, as well as individual qualities that will stand them in good stead for the next chapter of their education and training. One student said, "Thanks to all the teachers who helped us as Lightcliffe Academy - their support has helped me achieve everything I need to support my future", while another said, "I am unbelievably grateful for all the support I received throughout my time at school".

Mrs Hackett, Head of School, said: “We are incredibly proud of all our Year 11 students and everything they have achieved. Today's results are a true reflection of the drive, focus and ambition they have demonstrated throughout their time at Lightcliffe Academy, as well as the commitment and support provided by our exceptional staff throughout. We wish every one of them the very best as they take their next steps and look forward to seeing all they go on to achieve.”

Well done year 11!
